PCS Model P-0.1 Spray Dryer and Demonstration Lab

The PCS facility in Payson, AZ is where all the PCS testing and production takes place. It is home to our PCS Model P-0.1 pilot-scale dryer and demonstration lab. The pilot dryer was designed with the goals of cleanliness, flexibility, and observability.

The pilot dryer has been used to test many diverse feedstocks, and has proven the superiority of pulse combustion spray drying across a wide range of products, sometimes as many as 5 different products a week. For this purpose we made it easy to clean with quick assembly and disassembly. This enables us to keep it sanitary despite the large variety of products it has dried. It also helps limit cross contamination between different batches of the same material.

Testing and research is made very easy by the flexible design of the pilot dryer. We have two main configurations: with cyclone and sanitary baghouse, or sanitary baghouse only. We also have multiple pumps for liquids of differing properties. This almost modular quality of the pilot dryer ensures our success in drying almost all products.

Observation also is of prime importance on the pilot dryer. Hatches on the drying chamber give a view of the action inside and, when reaching inside, even allow the material to be felt during atomization. Powder production rates are easily seen through the transparent collection buckets. Even the baghouse can be quickly inspected between runs.

In addition to the accommodating dryer design, the adjoining lab is fully equipped to prepare, process, and characterize the properties of your samples in order to create the particle characteristics you desire.
